BOOK

Bahia-based accordion player, songwriter, vocalist, filmmaker, and visual artist, Lívia Mattos has been developing her singular skills as a player and unconventional frontwoman since she started her artistic adventures as a circus performer. Her concerts blend Brazilian Popular Music, burlesque jazz, and circus sensibilities. She has collaborated with renowned artists like Rosa Passos, Badi Assad, and Chico César, as well as the Symphonic Orchestra of Bahia. Mattos released her debut album as a songwriter, Vinha da Ida, in 2017. Its success led to tours in Europe and the Americas, as well as earning her four prestigious Brazilian arts and culture awards.

Lívia Mattos performs in a power trio format - composed of accordion, tuba, and drums - exploring different paths and sounds of her instrument. The show emphasizes the original repertoire presented in the albums "Vinha da Ida" (2017) and "Apneia" (2022), as well as new compositions and songs by masters such as Hermeto Pascoal, Tom Jobim, and Jacob do Bandolim. Between songs and instrumental pieces, the trio has been drawing attention for their performance and originality expressed in the combination of timbres, repertoire, and arrangements. In this format, Lívia Mattos has performed at WOMEX 2023 as well as festivals such as the Ariano Folk Festival, Peperonccino Jazz Festival, and Bari in Jazz in Italy; Maré, Tensamba, and Dia de Brasil in Spain; Casa da Música do Porto, X Jazz, and Musiberia in Portugal, among many others.
