“They were modernizers but remained part of the music’s weave. Though Mr. Pérez’s notes had the fast and blippy sound of jazz-fusion, they crouched warily within the music, never calling attention to themselves.”

— The New York Times

“One of the most versatile artists in the Cuban contemporary scene takes the stage to explain in his talk the essential aspects of the development of different musical genres in the Caribbean island, pointing out the aspects that make them authentic. Through Alain’s talk and performance, the audience understood the spirituality behind the sounds of rums and guitars, as well as the rhythmic and melodic elements that make Cuban music well-known across the world.”

— TEDxHabana

Alain Pérez refers to himself as "the true guajiro." Coming from humble beginnings in material terms, he is, however, full of love and curiosity for life. Thanks to this, his music transmits truth, pure rhythm, and traditional flavor. His nature, therefore, is not adorned by artifice. He learned early to take the stage with poise and presence. He has always felt the need to communicate through sound, silence, the creation of art and that abstract energy transmitted through music.

"The one from Trinidad" has turned all his live performances into a unique and complete experience: a whirlwind of emotions, subtle ties and sensations that create a distinctive seal of honesty, tradition, and contemporaneity on stage.

Currently, he is also the music producer of the Barcelona singer Miguel Poveda. There have been many hours of recording, production, and sharing the stage. Both are opening a new path in the production of their latest work, "Diverso."

Bringing Cuban music to the world through their eyes is, without a doubt, one of the objectives of the teacher. Alain Perez is the one from "Shorcito", the one from "Talking with Juana", that of" That's what we're for." The Cuban artist is a subtle and creative marriage between the origins and roots of its land with a textured, privileged and modern vision.
